Trauma occurs when people are in situations in which they feel out of control and helpless. It can lead to many enduring and troubling symptoms that negatively impact our lives and relationships. This happens because trauma has a significant impact on the brain. The exciting news is that there is hope for change. Our brains can re-structure, and we can reduce and overcome the impact of trauma on our lives.
Our work together on trauma will be to learn and understand how trauma affects the brain and body. We will employ different techniques to help the body and mind learn to calm down and experiences a sense of safety. We will work to help you reconnect with yourself and others in a healthy way, and get you to a place where you can connect with positive emotions and experiences, live in the present, and experience life beyond the trauma that you have experienced. This work is very gentle and handled with great care. It is always guided by the client and their comfort level.
